Morgan Ortagus: US has the ‘upper hand in Iran,’ former Trump official says
Morgan Ortagus joined the “Fox News Sunday” panel to discuss the ongoing conflict with Iran, President Donald Trump’s rejection of Tehran’s latest diplomatic proposal, and China’s relationship with the Iranian regime.
During the discussion, Ortagus responded to questions about President Trump’s approach to the conflict by pointing to the change in Iran’s nuclear capabilities. She noted that when the administration came into office, warnings that Iran was weeks away from obtaining a nuclear weapon were a central concern. Following President Trump’s actions against Iran’s nuclear program last year and this year, Ortagus argued that those warnings are no longer driving the conversation.
Ortagus emphasized that the principal threat Iran posed to the United States was obtaining a nuclear weapon and credited President Trump’s actions with stopping that threat.
