Ortagus reflected on the Trump administration’s maximum pressure strategy and emphasized that sanctions are one component of a broader approach toward Iran. She outlined key U.S. objectives, including preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, limiting its ballistic missile and drone capabilities, cutting funding to proxy groups, and supporting the Iranian people.

The conversation also covered prospects for diplomacy and the importance of verification and enforcement in any future agreement with Tehran. Ortagus discussed Iran’s influence across the region, including its support for Hezbollah, and reiterated the importance of disarming Hezbollah and strengthening the sovereignty of the Lebanese state.

Ortagus also pointed to the resilience of the Abraham Accords amid continued regional instability and reflected on the late Senator Lindsey Graham’s longstanding support for the Iranian people.
